The April 2018 issue of The Legend features Dan Yacovella’s 1965 tri-power, four-speed hardtop GTO. Dan wanted to buy a used ’65 GTO in 1967, to replace his 1961 Chevy Impala sedan, but his dad, an auto mechanic, “just saw the GTO as something that could potentially do me harm.” Fifty years later, Dan’s lifelong dream of owning a GTO came to fruition when he found this one in St. Louis. After a major mechanical restoration, Dan is very happy with his GTO. “I set out to find a GTO that was just all there and didn’t need any body work, just some ‘tinkering,’” he says. “What I bought was a great paint job on a 50-year-old car and a lot more ‘tinkering’ than expected. What I got was a great project! The GTO has been fully refurbished, and it is now that ‘fun car’ to drive.”
Also in the April issue: “2018 Convention Corner” with Brian Little; “Goats on the Block” with Chuck Catalano; “Pet Peeves From the Arizona Auctions” with Jeff Lovitch; and “GTO Collectibles” with Frank Thompson.
