A GTO Bronx Tale: The July 2018 issue of The Legend features Ray Florida’s (yes, that’s really his name) Regimental Red 1967 GTO convertible, a rarity in this particular New York City borough (or for that matter, anywhere in The Big Apple). Growing up in the Bronx, and taking the bus to school every day, Ray had his heart set on a Regimental Red GTO ever since a classmate at DeWitt Clinton High School had one he would “very slowly drive around the high school about ten times a day, just about every single day. Man, it was torture!” Ray after many years finally located his dream car in Providence, Rhode Island. Once it was in his possession, he initiated a frame-off restoration, adding four-wheel disc brakes, a wood steering wheel and other amenities. “If you are ever in the Bronx and want to take a ride in a great Regimental Red with parchment interior 1967 GTO convertible, come look me up,” Ray says. “I’ll even throw in a slice of the absolute best pizza on earth from 187th Street and Arthur Ave. in ‘Da Bronx.’”
Also in the July issue: “Susquehanna GTOs All-Pontiac Show” with Bill Vantuono; and “Gulfstream Dreams” with Jeff Lovich
