Highlights from the March 2019 issue of The Legend

The March 2019 issue of The Legend features the “Mountain Goat,” Jerry Thompson’s Quicksilver Metallic 2004 new-gen GTO, equipped with the red interior and 4L60E four-speed automatic. Jerry, who previously owned a ’66 and ’67 GTO as well as a ’73 Firebird Formula 455, took delivery of his new ’04 in January 2004, more than one year after he placed a hold deposit on it with his dealer in Utah. He brought the GTO home from the dealer in a snowstorm, but that’s the only time it has been driven in bad weather. “The GTO is now my primary transportation in good weather,” Jerry says. “I’m retired, so I don’t put nearly the miles on a car that I once did, and as I write this, my GTO odometer is approaching 18,000 miles. I call it my Mountain Goat because a high percentage of its miles have been racked up carving mountain roads, my favorite place to drive it. It lives at 4,500 feet above sea level, but ventures up above 10,000 feet, and never gets winded.”

Also in the March issue: “Convention Corner” with Don Kruse; “Tigers on the Columbia” with Milt Vine; “GTOAA Street Legends Route 66 Cruise” with G. Tom Oxler; and “Quarter-Mile With the Judge,” with Frank Fregiato.

All this and more—classified ads, the GTOAA Club Store, etc.—in the March 2019 issue of The Legend, the only national automotive magazine devoted exclusively to Pontiac’s Great One!
