The March 2020 issue of The Legend features Dave Rasmussen’s 1973 Valencia Gold GTO, a beautiful example of the next-to-last of the classic Great Ones. “Typically, a confused onlooker at a car show, cruise-in or gas station will say something like, ‘I didn’t even know they made a GTO that year, but I remember my aunt had a LeMans just like this …’” Dave, a member of the Original GTO Club of Milwaukee GTOAA chapter, says. “Yes, it’s a real GTO.” GM’s “Colonnade” style A-bodies were made from 1973 to 1977; Pontiac’s included the Gran Am, of which 43,136 were built in 1973. But there were only 4,806 GTOs—an option on the LeMans—made, “a crazy-low number when you consider that nearly 100,000 were built in 1966, the peak production year for our storied model.”
Also in the March issue: “Convention Corner” with Scott Klincik; “Tigers on the Columbia” with Milt Vine; “1968 GTO Gauges” with Scott Veracka; and “Uprising & Norwalk” with Jim Moran. All this and more—classified ads, the GTOAA Club Store, etc.—in the March 2020 issue of The Legend, the only national automotive magazine devoted exclusively to Pontiac’s Great One!
