The November 2019 issue of The Legend features Dick Smart’s 1968 GTO. The best way to describe this heavily modified, 467 ci/750 hp, Butler Performance-equipped beast is “1970s Street Machine.” Dick, who street-raced in his youth in the mid-1970s with his first GTO (also a ’68) and has a history of blown engines (seven in one year!) and “moving violations” to back up his tales of outrunning the State Police, is a welder and fabricator. The result of his painstaking rerstoration and modification work is what you see here, the GTOAA 2019 Concours Best Modified winner. It’s a got a blown engine, but in a much different sense!
Also in the November issue: “Convention Corner” with Sam Nance, “Wood Steering Wheel Horn Button Issues” with Gary Gibbs, “Goats On The Block” With Chuck Catalano,” and “Camshaft Selection” with Steve Schaeffer.
All this and more—classified ads, the GTOAA Club Store, etc.—in the November 2019 issue of The Legend, the only national automotive magazine devoted exclusively to Pontiac’s Great One!
