In the December 2014 issue of The Legend
The December 2014 issue of The Legend features John Hollow’s Grenadier Red (Code VVA) 1964 four-speed hardtop, which he found in 2009 on eBay. Purchased in beautifully restored condition, John’s show-winning GTO was built in April 1964 at the Pontiac, Michigan plant. It features a Morrokide black interior (Code 214), bucket seats with center console (Code 601), Tri-Power (Code 76X), 3:23 Safe-T-Track rear (Code 703), pushbutton radio with electric antenna (Code 393), Septra-phonic rear speaker (Code 401), dual-speed windshield washer/wipers (Code 421), left-hand outside mirroe (Code 602), and four-spoke Custom Sport Steering Wheel (Code 524). During its restoration, this GTO received several additional correct factory options, including an in-dash tachometer (Code 452), power steering (Code 501), Wonder Touch power brakes (Code 502), and a matching, date-coded four-speed transmission. Hurst wheels and period-correct redline tires complete the package, but the original Code JK 14X6 steel wheels mounted on repro redlines are in storage. Besides the Hurst wheels, Flowmaster mufflers are the only deviation from stock.
Also in the December issue: “Convention Corner 2015” with Bill Sanders, representing the Indy GTO Association, which, with the Pontiacs of Southeastern Indiana, is co-hosting next year’s Nationals in Columbus, Indiana; “Mecum Harrisburg,” with Vic Schreck and Tom Szymczyk; “Trans Am Tempest,” with Steve Fleury; “Heartland Pontiac Show,” with David Kaufman; and “1964 GTO Taillights,” with Jeff Lovich.
All this and more—and the new GTOAA Club Store, now operated by Custom Auto Apparel—in the December 2014 issue of The Legend, the only national automotive magazine devoted exclusively to Pontiac’s Great One! Happy Holidays from the GTOAA, and Happy 50th Anniversary, Pontiac GTO!
