Good as gold: The June 2017 issue of The Legend features John Paval’s pristine 1965 GTO hardtop. This Capri Gold – a rare color – Pontiac, named “Suzie” in memory of John’s wife, sports a parchment interior, deluxe wheel covers, Uniroyal Tiger Paw whitewalls and plenty of options, some of which are original to the car, some of which have been added: air-conditioning, FM under-dash converter, rear speaker, quartz-converted clock, vacuum gauge, etc. “I don’t intend to make this a 100-point car,” John says. “I like driving it to cruise nights, road trips and occasional car shows. I’ve won my share of first-place trophies and people’s choice awards. On weekends, I do my best to enjoy it: ice cream, burger runs, coffee and cars and such. I appreciate the nods, honks and thumbs-up when I’m out for a ride or that Sunday drive. I plan to hold on to Suzie, my dream car no. 3, for some time to come. Third time’s the charm!”
Also in the June issue: “Convention Corner 2017” with various guest speakers; “Concours Update” with Bill Markowski, “Wisconsin State Trooper Incident 1982” with John Rawlins, “Muncie Trans Ooops” with Steve Schaeffer, “Little GTOs” with Tim Sickle; and “Kirban’s Korner” with Dennis Kirban.
All this and more—classified ads, the GTOAA Club Store, etc.—in the June 2017 issue of The Legend, the only national automotive magazine devoted exclusively to Pontiac’s Great One!
