Wreck to rebirth: The June 2018 issue of The Legend features Susquehanna Valley GTOs member Tom Jackson’s Original-Owner 1970 GTO hardtop. This Verdoro Green/White painted top Ram Air III model, named “Nellybelle” by John’s wife, narrowly escaped being totaled when, on the way to the 2016 GTOAA East Coast Regionals at Max Performance, an errant Chrysler 300 hit and spun it out onto the median grass on Route 222 near Lancaster, Pa. Tom and driver Ken Menge were shaken up but thankfully avoided serious injury. The GTO, however, was a different story. It looked OK at first glance, but underneath, the front portion of the frame had been bent, and the engine was shoved way out of its normal spot. Long story short, Tom was determined to save the car. SVGTO President Vic Schreck contacted Gary Cave. One year later, Gary brought the beautifully repaired and restored GTO back to Tom and his wife. You can see it at the 2018 GTOAA Nationals in Valley Forge, in the Original Owner display.
Also in the June issue: “Convention Corner 2018” with Vic Schreck; “Concours Update” with Bill Markowski, “My 16-Year-Old-Son” with Mark Weidmayer; and “Kirban’s Korner” with Dennis Kirban.
All this and more—classified ads, the GTOAA Club Store, etc.—in the June 2018 issue of The Legend, the only national automotive magazine devoted exclusively to Pontiac’s Great One!
