Never, ever, underestimate the willpower and resourcefulness of a woman! A heartwarming and inspiring example is the cover story of the April 2019 issue of The Legend: Audrey Loar’s original-owner Aquamarine 1964 hardtop, a base model equipped with the 325-hp 389, Carter AFB 4bbl. carb, two-speed, column-shifted Super Turbine 300 automatic transmission, matching interior and deluxe hubcaps. Audrey, a self-taught mechanic who spent 30 years as a parts tech in the El Dorado County Department of Transportation Equipment Maintenance Shop, and a single mom with four children, drove her Goat for 33 years (after racking up more than 210,000 miles!), parked it for 16, and then had the car restored over a five-year period. “I didn’t have all the wild experiences with my GTO life as other people, but my love for my kids and GTO and trying to take care of both to keep all safe and running was a blast,” she says.
Also in the April issue: “Convention Corner” with Don Kruse; “Visiting an Old Friend” with Lee Deshler; “GTOAA Street Legends Route 66 Cruise” with G. Tom Oxler; and “Pet Peeves From Arizona” with Jeff Lovitch.
All this and more—classified ads, the GTOAA Club Store, etc.—in the April 2019 issue of The Legend, the only national automotive magazine devoted exclusively to Pontiac’s Great One!
