FANTASTIC Caverns

GTOAA group event planned for Wed. June 19th @ 1:00PM (Tentative time)

You’ve seen the billboards, but you’ve got to see the stalagmites! Fantastic Caverns is a family-friendly, ride-through cave experience that takes you into the breathtaking, wild nature of Missouri’s caves. An ancient underground river once carved the path that’s now traveled by Jeep-drawn trams leading guests on a 55-minute tour of the caverns.

Because the beauty of Fantastic Caverns is vulnerable, the cave is toured in Jeep-drawn trams. Since you ride all of the way through, you experience the magnitude, the stillness, and the splendor of Fantastic Caverns while preserving its natural features. Wise stewardship is integral. Preservation efforts ensure the cave will be available for future generations to explore.

Guests get an up-close look at rock formations, dangling soda straws coated and shining with minerals and gleaming cave pearls in clear water along the way. Tours are led by experts who answer questions and help guests explore the Cave State’s wonders and history.

Fantastic Caverns was first discovered by John Knox who was looking for his dog in 1862, a tumultuous time in the region. Knox kept the cave’s potential hidden until after the Civil War. In 1867, Knox invited the community to view the space, and members of the Springfield Women’s Athletic Club were the first to brave the journey underground. The 12 women are considered the first cave explorers of Fantastic Caverns, and guests can still see their names on the cave wall today.

As always, please note that registration for the convention is mandatory for anyone wishing to participate in convention events such as Concours, Popular Vote, car cruises, & bus tours.  This is a limited capacity event so do try to sign up early and reserve your spot.

Branson Belle Showboat and Supper Cruise

GTOAA Event Planned for Wed. June 19th @ 6:00 PM

Themed after the majestic showboats of the 1800s, the Showboat Branson Belle evokes the spirit of a bygone era when riverboat adventure, glamorous travel and dazzling entertainment converged into what we remember as Those Grand Old Showboatin’ Days!  Our cruise departs at 8:00PM which will give us a view of sunset over Table Rock Lake, and will feature an elegant 3 course supper meal.  Afterwards, relax and enjoy a performance of one of our outstanding live shows the Belle is known for.

This event offers you the option of driving your own vehicle or riding a motor-coach to the embarkation point for the dinner cruise. Self-driving allows you to customize your day, especially if you want to spend some extra time in Branson before the supper cruise departs.  On the other hand, if you don’t want to hassle with driving to or from Branson (and the traffic can be quite intense at times) the bus option is available.

Tickets are limited so sign up early to avoid disappointment!

Please note that registration for the convention is mandatory for anyone wishing to participate in convention events such as Concours, Popular Vote, car cruises, & bus tours.

The Craft Beer “Pub Crawl” Tour

Thursday June 21st  @ 2:30AM – 6:00PM

We will be chartering a bus to take us to several of the fine local craft beer establishments in the Springfield MO area, departing from the hotel @ 2:30PM.   We might have the bus make a run from the first pub back to the hotel to pick up the remainder of our group, if we sell enough tickets to max out the first bus.  The second group will join the first for a while, then the first group will depart for the second pub, and so it will continue until everyone is finally delivered back to the hotel.

As was planned for last year’s event, the food or beverage(s) you consume are on you, our fee just gets you to and from the venues, and back to the hotel.  At this time, the 3 pubs we plan to visit are Tie and Timber Company, Springfield Brewing Company, and Mothers Brewing Company.  We reserve the right to alter this as needed.

As always, please note that registration for the convention is mandatory for anyone wishing to participate in convention events such as Concours, Popular Vote, car cruises, & bus tours.

Tie & Timber Beer Company is located in the Rountree neighborhood of Springfield, MO and brews premium, fresh, craft beer. Crafted with the amazing BARE ZERO PROOF, these mocktails are a delicious way to keep the celebration going without the hangover.

GTOAA Drag Racing at Ozark Raceway Park, Rogersville MO in conjunction with The Street Legends Cruise and Car Show

Sat. June 22nd, @ 11am                   https://www.ozarkracewaypark.com/

There will be a change to the Street Legends Car Cruise and Car Show-  we are planning to take this event to the nearby Ozark Raceway Park (about 20 minutes east of Springfield MO).  We will still host a show ‘n shine at the track, as well as offer racing for those who want it.  Since we will be there over the lunch hour, the track’s concession stand will be open for those who want to partake.   There will be fees associated with any/all parts of this event since the track does charge for spectators and racers.

You may race if you want in 1 of 2 different formats.  The first is a “test ‘n tune” class where you can make as many passes as possible, depending on our time-line at the track.  The second is a more formal trophy-racing in one of 2 classes, by Bracket Racing.  The slower cars will be a 14.00 second and higher, and the faster cares will compete in the 13.99 and under.  You will have to “dial-in” your time for the bracket racing, so get there on time and make a few runs to know about what your car is capable of.  Trophies and bragging rights are on the line for these 2 groups, so plan to attend.

We plan to leave the host hotel at 10:30 AM and arrive at the track at 11AM and shortly thereafter start time trials.  This is a ¼ mile track, except for the very fast cars which are restricted to a 1/8th mile run.

GTOAA members & family who are registered for the convention will pay the ORP gate fee, and also if they race.  This is per ORP rules.

The car must be badged as a Pontiac.

Tentative Fee Schedule:              Spectator                                $ 15

Kids 12 and under are free          Test & Tune     $40.

Trophy Racing $50

ORP Rules are below:  see the link for the most up to date info:     https://www.ozarkracewaypark.com/

Arm Bands

Arm Bands will be used at all events. These arm bands MUST be worn throughout the event, and may not be removed for any reason. These arm bands are “non transferable”. If anyone is found inside the gates without an arm band or an arm band that has been cut/ glued or taped, or found to have been removed and then replaced they shall be given the opportunity to purchase an arm band or leave the event immediately.

Passengers

At no time is a passenger allowed to be in a car while making a pass. (Drag Racing 101 and “Ride Along Friday’s” are excluded from this policy).

Driver Credentials

All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 16 years old; one exception to this rule is in the JR dragster. All drivers must be licensed to their respective E.T.’s. (There are exceptions for example: An adult whom might have had their license suspended for a traffic violation or it might be expired can appeal to the race director for exemption).

Restricted Areas

No one under the age of 14 is allowed in the restricted areas, this includes the area from the water box to the starting line. Due to insurance conditions we are faced with, we WILL limit the number of people we allow in the restricted area. At no time will we allow any “spectators” in a restricted area. Anyone wishing to be in a restricted area must have wristbands. Only drivers and three (3) additional persons per entry are eligible for a restricted area wristband. All other exceptions are at the discretion of the track manager. Any eligible individual desiring a wristband must sign a wavier at ORP tech in order to receive their wristbands.

Leash Rule

Any pets brought to the facility must be on a leash at all times. Pet owners will be asked not to bring the pet back if problems with the animal occur. When your pet “relieves” themselves, please clean up after them.

Shoes

Open toed shoes are not allowed while racing.

Speed Limits

The speed limit in the pit area and the return road is 10 mph.

Drinking by a Driver

Any driver observed by track officials to be consuming any amount of alcohol while still in competition will be disqualified from the event. (This may possibly involve a 1 year ban as well).

  • PONTIAC TRI-POWER

For 2024 we are pleased to offer the Trade Wind tripower aluminum intake that Kauffman Racing is now producing. We offer both the 1965 and 1966 intakes. Intakes can be purchased as bare intakes or as complete tripowers ready to bolt on. Read the description of each under the listing for each year.

We are getting more and more emails and phone calls regarding folks having issues with tripowers they bought recently. The majority of these units have been purchased on E-bay, Craig's list, or even private parties. We have said it 1000 times, Buyer be aware. We are seeing it over and over, center carbs being used as end carbs, ends with wrong throttle bases, wrong air horns. Center carbs that are not correct center carbs. There is not an inexpensive way to correct these so called tripowers. These sellers are very deceiving in the way they describe the tripowers, it is a tripower with three carbs, just that they are not correct tripower carbs. It can be a costly mistake.

As we enter 2024, we want to thank our customers for making 2023 a good business year. Business and traffic to the web page was good considering all.

Considering all, we do our best to keep the Classic car hobby going. We strive to provide the best original parts as well as reproduction parts available. It has been a challenge this last year with the constant price increases. We do our best to keep our pricing below our competition.
